VC Breaks Ground for Beautification of Link Gate Entrance

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, has broken ground for the beautification of the Link Gate entrance into the Legon campus. 

According to the Contractor, the project will include a walkway that will provide pedestrians with a safe walking path, landscaping, and benches. The development is being carried out by Mendanha and Sousa Ghana Construction Ltd., and completion is anticipated in six months.

Prof. Amfo extended her appreciation to the contractors for their assistance in beautifying the Legon campus and was hopeful that the project will be completed on schedule. She assured them of the University’s support in that regard. 

The Deputy Director of PDMSD, Mr. Peter Abalansah, also expressed appreciation to the contractors and offered his unit’s support to ensure the successful accomplishment of the project.

The brief ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Gordon Awandare, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (ASA); Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Registrar; Ms. Pascaline Songsore, Senior Assistant Registrar, Public Affairs Directorate; UG, Mrs. Mavis Osafo Adu, Assistant Registrar, Public Affairs Directorate; Sylvia Antwiwaah Sarbah, Senior Administrative Assistant, VC’s Office and other offcials from the construction company.  

The Link Gate entrance is one of the access control points into the Legon campus for motorists from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)/Achimota road. Over the years, the University of Ghana has embarked on beautification projects which include the planting of trees and landscaping.
