UG Dental Unit Receives Donation from Yonkofa Foundation

One of the regular donors to the Dental Unit of the University Health Services, Yonkofa Foundation, has once again presented the Hospital with a mobile Dental Chair for dental outreaches and screening exercises as well as a large consignment of dental floss picks for patients.

At the presentation ceremony, Prof. George Armah of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, who is also a partner of the Yonkofa Foundation, represented the Foundation. He pledged the continual support of the Foundation and conveyed their desire to support more units in the Hospital.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the University's Management, Dr. Mark Frempong, Director, University Health Services, expressed the Hospital's immense appreciation for the kind gesture. “Other members of the community should emulate what the Yonkofa Foundation and Prof. Armah are doing so that together, we can give comprehensive healthcare to our people”, Dr. Frempong said. He also expressed delight in cooperating with the Foundation in its quest to support other units.

In brief remarks, Dr. Joseph Kwasi Nimako-Boateng, Head of the Dental Unit, indicated how previous donations by the Yonkofa Foundation had made tremendous impact in their patient care and service delivery. He seized the opportunity to announce plans of the Unit to launch a flossing campaign within the University community to promote oral health among the community members.

Present at the ceremony were doctors, nurses, and medical trainees at the Dental Unit.
