Physical Education Department Holds Maiden Training Workshop for Sport Administrators

The Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies (PESS) at the School of Education and Leadership (SEL), has held a 5-day training workshop for some practitioners in the sporting industry.

The maiden workshop which was aimed at equipping participants with knowledge in Sport Management and Fitness, and Gym Management started on Monday, 30th May and ended on Friday, 3rd June 2022.

Speaking at the brief ceremony to mark the end of the 5-day training programme, the Chair for the event, Professor Gordon Senanu Adika, Acting Dean, School of Education and Leadership, commended the Department for the initiative and encouraged the participants and trainees to apply what was learnt during the five-day training.

The Head of the Department of PESS, Dr. Austin Luguterah, in his remarks stated that the workshop was tailored to equip the 28 participants with knowledge to assist them to manage their respective organisations and gym centres. “The training course was tailored for participants in the Sport industry. This was to give them all the knowledge needed in the field to ensure that they deliver effective services to their clients”, he said.

Dr. Luguterah explained that the training covered areas of leadership, gym marketing and management, delivering of quality services and addressing clients in the gym.

During the training session, there was an interactive session between moderators and participants.

Present at the training from the Department of PESS were Dr. Emmanuel Yaw Assasie, Lecturer; Ms. Vida Korleki Nyawornota, Assistant Lecturer and Mrs. Naa Adjei Ahenei, Senior Administrative Assistant.  Mr. Yaw Sakyi Asare, CEO, Rite Sports also graced the occasion.
