The Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS) at the College of Humanities has organised a training workshop on Child Rights Monitoring for officers of the northern sector of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The curriculum for the workshop was developed by Dr. Ernestina Korleki Dankyi, Team Lead, Dr. Stephen Afranie of CSPS, and Dr. Peace Mamle Tetteh of the Department of Sociology, with inputs from international and national experts and practitioners. The result is a rigorous and relevant course that is suited for decision-makers and professionals in both the private and public sectors who seek to support their work with analytical and practical skills in child rights monitoring.

The workshop, which was supported by United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Ghana, was presented through an interactive learning approach, with evaluations after each session that fed into the delivery of subsequent sessions.

Feedback from the participants affirmed the relevance and richness of the course content. In her closing remarks, the Deputy Commission of CHRAJ, Mrs. Mercy Larbi, who actively participated in the three-day workshop, thanked UNICEF Ghana for generously funding the training and for bringing them the best consultants for the assignment.

CSPS hopes to soon extend this training to the general public in a well-packaged short course.
