The Mandate

 

•The Institute of Applied Science and Technology was established in January 2012.

•Mandate is to mobilize University of Ghana faculty and their partners, as well as resources to deliver knowledge, innovation and technology to industry.  

Objectives:

•Promote relevant trans-disciplinary research to address the needs of industry and important national issues
•Interact with Industry and promote strategic partnerships between University of Ghana research faculty in different disciplines and Industry
•Organize events to showcase technologies developed in the various departments in the    University
•Enhance academic research through project based research fund raising and facilitate improvement of research facilities in partner departments

Mission:

“Mission is to provide leadership in establishing and strengthening University-Industry partnerships in the transfer of knowledge, technology and innovation”

•Creation of indigenous industries that meet both national and global standards and specifications

Vision:

“To consolidate all efforts to lay a strong foundation in all measurement categories of research technologies and innovations in a product mix (high quality deliverables in innovations and technologies that meet national industrial needs and international development needs to enhance the competiveness of the University) by the year 2019”

•Spearhead the development of physical facilities for the activities of the Institute, such as specialized laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, pilot plants for proof of concept and skills development for students and industry.
 
•Position Institute as the Centre of Research Excellence for Technology Transfer/Introductions, postgraduate training, collaborative research and product development
