Comprehensive Training Program for Sustainable Fabric Care and Maintenance

The Institute of the Applied Science and Technology, University of Ghana, in collaboration with Trenor Coats and Gowns has developed a 17-modular program in sustainable fabric care and maintenance. Our comprehensive training program is a mutli-faceted journey into the world of textiles, laundry operations and fabric care. This 17-modular course encompasses a wide array of modules, each design to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the fabric care industry.

Program Goal:

The goal of this modular training program is to empower people with the expertise and confidence to thrive in the fabric care and maintenance industry.

Basic level modules

Recommended for individuals new to the fabric care industry or those seeking continuing professional training. These modules provide foundational knowledge and skills for effective fabric care practices.

MODULE 1- Introduction to Textiles and Fabric Care

This module provides a fundamental understanding of textiles and essential fabric care skills. It also introduces learners to exciting prospects in the industry.

MODULE 2 - Health and Safety in Fabric Care

This module focuses on identifying and mitigating risks in fabric care operations, ensuring a safe work environment within in the industry.

 MODULE 3 - Laundry Operations (Pre-production)

This module focuses on equipping learners with fundamental pre-production fabric care setting in the foundation for a successful fabric care journey.

MODULE 4-   Laundry Operations- Principles of Production (Washing and Drying)

This module focuses on equipping learners with efficient skills in washing and drying laundry, to meet standard practices in the fabric care industry.

MODULE 5-   Laundry Operations- Principles of Production (Ironing and Pressing)

This module focuses on equipping learners with efficient skills in ironing and pressing laundry to meet standard practices in the fabric care industry.

MODULE 6 - Stain removal and cleaning agents

This module empowers learners to identify and remove stains using eco-friendly, green-certified cleaning agents and sustainable methods.

MODULE 7- Laundry Operations- Principles of Post-production (Finishing, Quality Assurance, and Packaging)

This module imparts comprehensive knowledge and skills for conducting quality control assessments on finished laundry, ensuring industry standards and customer satisfaction.

This module would introduce learners to alternative professional laundry cleaning methods.

MODULE 9- Customer experience management in fabric care

This module prepare learners with the knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional customer service in the fabric care industry.

MODULE 10 - Laundry Operations Management - Production Management

This module equips learners with skills to efficiently manage and optimize resources with a focus on sustainability and increased productivity.

MODULE 11 - Fabric care operations management -Leadership and People management

This module equips learners with essential skills and knowledge to effectively lead and manage a team within a laundry facility, to achieve organizational goals.

 MODULE 12 - Data collection and analysis for decision-making in the fabric care industry

This module teaches learners to collect and analyze operational and financial data to measure the growth of the Fabric care business.

MODULE 13- Basic Garment Reconstruction and Sustainability in the Fabric Care Industry

This module equips learners with fundamental knowledge for reconstructing worn-out or damaged fabrics, to promote sustainability in the fabric care industry.

This module equips learners with the skills and techniques to professionally to professionally clean and maintain linen in the hospitality industry.

MODULE 15- Professional Linen Care and Maintenance for the Healthcare Sector

This module equips learners with essential skills and techniques to clean, sanitize and maintain hygiene in the processing of linen for both patients and staff within the healthcare sector.

MODULE 16- Professional Linen Care and Maintenance for the Food Processing Industry

This module imparts skills to learners for processing the laundry of staff uniforms in food processing companies, to ensure HACCP compliance.

MODULE 17- Professional Carpet Cleaning

This module equips learners with the skills needed to professionally clean various types of carpets.
