Applicants seeking admission to the Department of Plant and Environmental Biology must meet the same entry requirements stipulated by the School of Biological Sciences.
All students admitted to the School of Biological Sciences follow a common set of courses during their first year. At the end of the first year, placement into specific programmes is determined based on academic performance. The available programmes include:
- Plant and Environmental Biology
- Animal Biology and Conservation Science
- Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology
- Nutrition and Food Science
- Marine and Fisheries Sciences

Admission Requirements for WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants
Core Subjects (Minimum of C6 in each):
- English Language
- Core Mathematics
- Integrated Science
- Social Studies
Elective Subjects (Minimum of C6 in each):
- Chemistry (mandatory)
- Any two of the following: Biology, Physics, Elective Mathematics
Note: A minimum of C6 in Chemistry is specifically required.
Admission Requirements for GCE Advanced Level Applicants
Candidates with GCE A-Level qualifications must meet the following criteria for admission into the BSc Biological Sciences programme:
A-Level Subject Requirements:
- Passes in three (3) A-Level subjects, which must include:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Either Physics or Mathematics
O-Level Subject Requirements:
- Five (5) credit passes at the GCE Ordinary Level (O-Level), including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Science
- Plus two other subjects
Admission Requirements for International Baccalaureate (IB) Applicants
IB applicants should have:
- At least Grade 4 in three Higher Level (HL) subjects: Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics
- At least Grade 4 in Standard Level (SL) English Language/Literature and Mathematics
- At least a Grade C in Physics at the IGCSE or equivalent
