Admission Requirements for MPhil Botany Programme

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Botany programme at the University of Ghana is offered under the School of Biological Sciences within the College of Basic and Applied Sciences. This programme is designed for students interested in advanced studies in plant biology and related fields.

Admission Requirements

Academic Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess a good first degree, at least a Second Class Lower Division (or a final Grade Point Average of at least 2.0), in Botany/Plant and Environmental Biology, Agriculture, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Applicants with a Third Class degree may be considered for admission based on relevant work experience and/or other qualifications.

Language Proficiency:

  • Applicants who have not been instructed in English at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels must provide a test score of at least 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
