
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo together with other officers of the University of Ghana have paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief (Omanhen) of the Essikado (British Sekondi) Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, at his Palace in the Western Region of Ghana.
The purpose of the visit was to officially introduce herself to the Omanhen following her appointment and induction as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the premier university in Ghana. Professor Nana Aba Amfo sought the Omanhen’s support to ensure a successful tenure and operations related to the successful establishment of the University of Ghana Takoradi City Campus.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, on his part lauded the initiative taken by the University and pledged his support towards the implementation of the initiative which would be the first of its kind in the Western Region. He indicated that it was a welcome initiative that was long overdue, and gifted the Vice-Chancellor with a copy of his book on ‘’African Culture in Governance and Development: the Ghana Paradigm.’’

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (ASA), Prof. Gordon A. Awandare, Acting Provost of the College of Education (CoE), Prof. Martin Oteng-Ababio; Chair of the UG City Campus Implementation Committee, Prof. Charity Akotia; the Acting Principal, UG Takoradi City Campus, Prof. Bernardin Senadza; a Member of the UG City Campus Implementation Committee, Dr. Jemima Anderson; Academic Coordinator of the Takoradi Learning Centre, Dr. Robert Afutu-Kotey and the Management Accountant at the CoE, Mr. Daniel Afare.
