LEADERSHIP

The leadership of the Council is made up of four Executive Officers. The executive officers with the Junior Common Room (JCR) executives of the various JCRs form the Executive Committee. The Executive committee is the highest decision-making body at the executive level. The four Executive Officers are:

 

 

THE PRESIDENT

The office of the President is by law the highest student office in the University. The SRC President is the chief spokesperson of all students in the university. He is also mandated to pursue, solely, the interest of the general student body without any form of discrimination. His Excellency Kwame Amo Ntow Fianko is currently the president of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council. He took over from H. E. Isaac Agyemang. H. E. Fianko is also the president of Akuafo Hall JCR.  Reading Political Science and Archeology in level 400, he is inspired by John F. Kennedy’s quote, ‘The future promise of a nation can be determined by the present prospects of the youth.’

THE VICE PRESIDENT

The Vice President acts in the position of a deputy to the highest office of the Students’ Representative Council. His Excellency Barnabas Mensah occupies the second-highest position on the student front. His Excellency Barnabas Mensah, affectionately called Vandal Lyrics, who is the second gentleman of the Council, is a final year Geography and Linguistics student. He is a resident of Commonwealth Hall where he serves as the JCR President. He is the acting President of the University of Ghana Chapter for Youth Initiative For Africa Development and also a devoted member of the University of Ghana Plastic Recycling Project team. He fellowships with PENSA UG. H. E. Barnabas Mensah who succeeded H. E. Louis Banahene is a proud product of Saint  John's School, Sekondi.

THE SECRETARY

The office of the SRC General Secretary is the administrative head of the council. She is also known as the secretary to the Executive Committee. The Office of the Secretary among other things has the function of communicating to the general student body, at least once every month when school is in session on the welfare of students. Ruby Nkansah is the current SRC General Secretary. She took over from Ms Denise Kagal Abaniaba. Ms Nkansah doubles as the General Secretary of Mensah Sarbah Hall.

THE TREASURER

The Office of the treasure is one of the offices created by the SRC constitution to carry out all financial transactions of the SRC in order to ensure effective and efficient use of money. Feyi Eyram Kwamla is the name of the incumbent SRC treasurer.

THE LEGAL ADVISOR

The legal advisor is the principal advisor of the SRC. The role of the legal advisor can be found in clause 22(a) of the UGSRC constitution. The incumbent legal advisor is Nana Kwesi Essuman Pocco, a resident  of Elizabeth Sey.
