About

Rev. Fr. Anthony Kwaku Boakye, FLP, M.A.TH, Ph.D., was born on February 3, 1982, in Barniekrom a suburb of Ahafo Anno South-West Ashanti Region, Ghana. He grew up in Kumasi and finished his elementary and junior high school in 1998 at Tanoso Anglican School. He entered St. Hubert’s Minor Seminary the same year at Santasi (Kumasi) where he had his senior high school education and seminary formation. After his high school and seminary formation, he left the seminary to teach and better his results. Having worked for a couple of years he entered the Spiritan University College in Kumasi to study philosophy. In 2009 he then transferred to Adamson University Philippines to continue his philosophical studies as a member of the servants of the Paraclete congregation and graduated in 2014. After Adamson University, he joined the Franciscans of Our Lady of the Poor (FLP) and took his theological formation at Don Bosco Centre of Studies: an affiliate of the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome at Paranaque City Philippines, and simultaneously had a master’s in philosophy from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2014. He obtained a master’s degree in philosophy in 2017 and 2018 obtained another two degrees, that is, a bachelor's degree in ecclesiastical theology and a master’s degree in sacred scripture. While still studying theology he also gained admission to take his doctorate in philosophy at De La Salle University Taft in 2017 and finished in 2021 with the doctoral dissertation entitled, “Levinas’ Ethics and the Phenomenon of Dignity.” He is presently a lecturer at the University of Ghana (Philosophy and Classics Department). His areas of interest are Phenomenology and Existentialism, Continental Philosophy, Feminist Philosophy, and Metaphysics.
