About
Dr. Justina Serwaah Owusu is a Lecturer in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Ghana and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (USA). She holds a PhD in Dietetics and Nutrition from Florida International University, USA, an MPhil in Nutrition, and a BSc in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Ghana.
Her research focuses on nutrition across the life cycle, non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes, and school feeding programs.
Dr. Owusu teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in nutritional physiology, metabolism, human growth and development, food analysis, community nutrition, and nutrition research. She has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate research projects and has secured competitive research funding as both Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator. Her scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
Beyond teaching and research, she serves the University through academic advising, student mentorship, departmental leadership roles, and participation on boards and committees. She is also actively involved in professional and research networks, including the Cancer and Nutrition Epidemiology in Africa (CANA) Teaching and Research Board.
