The Department of Nutrition and Food Science (DNFS), University of Ghana, held a send-off ceremony on 25 September 2026 to celebrate the contributions of its 31 National Service Personnel and appreciate the Department's immediate past Chief Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Emelda Klodzi.
The ceremony, which commenced at 11:30 a.m., brought together faculty, administrative staff, and National Service Personnel for a time of reflection, appreciation, and encouragement around what we do best, food.
Celebrating Service and Contribution
The programme opened with remarks from the Head of Department, Prof. Angela Parry-Hanson Kunadu, while Dr. Joycelyn Quansah, a faculty member, served as Master of Ceremonies.

Faculty members and National Service Personnel shared reflections on their experiences with Mrs. Klodzi and expressed appreciation for her service to the Department. Mrs. Klodzi subsequently delivered remarks of appreciation, reflecting on her time with DNFS.

As part of the ceremony, Mrs. Klodzi was presented with a citation and gift box in recognition of her service and contribution to the Department.

Lessons for the Next Chapter
The outgoing National Service Personnel also had the opportunity to share their individual experiences, particularly the work they undertook with their respective supervisors and the knowledge and skills they gained during their period of service.
Faculty members used the occasion to encourage the National Service Personnel to continue developing themselves beyond their academic qualifications. Among the key pieces of advice was the importance of building soft skills and other professional competencies, as well as learning additional languages such as French or Spanish, which could prove valuable in their future careers and international professional engagements.
Looking Ahead
The ceremony served as both a celebration of service and an opportunity to look ahead. DNFS appreciates the contributions of the outgoing National Service Personnel and Mrs. Klodzi and wishes them success as they move on to new opportunities and experiences.
