The Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana, has once again celebrated outstanding academic achievement, with two of its students recognised at the University of Ghana Vice-Chancellor’s Ceremony in Honour of Academic Award Winners for the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
Solomon Ofori and Faustina Fenyiwaa Barnes were among the students honoured for their academic performance, receiving awards that recognise excellence in Nutrition and Child Nutrition, respectively.
Solomon Ofori received the Professor Ebenezer Asibey-Berko Award for the Best Student in MPhil Nutrition (Part I). The award recognises his outstanding performance during the first part of the MPhil Nutrition programme.
Faustina Fenyiwaa Barnes received the Richmond and Faustina Aryeetey Child Nutrition and Excellence Award, recognising excellence in child nutrition.

The recognition of both students highlights the breadth of academic excellence within the Department, spanning postgraduate study and specialised areas of nutrition.
For Solomon, the award comes as recognition of his performance in the MPhil Nutrition programme. Reflecting on the achievement, he expressed appreciation to the Department, his family, course mates and others who supported him throughout his studies.

Faustina's recognition through the Child Nutrition and Excellence Award similarly highlights the importance of academic excellence in advancing knowledge and expertise in nutrition, particularly in an area as critical as child nutrition.
The awards were presented during the University of Ghana's 2024/2025 Academic Awards Ceremony held in March 2026, where students from across the University were recognised for outstanding academic performance in various disciplines.
