UGEL Breaks Ground for the Construction of an Ultra-Modern Office Complex

The University of Ghana Enterprises Ltd. (UGEL) held a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the commencement of construction for a sustainable ultra-modern office complex.

The office complex, expected to be completed within four months, will house offices and other ancillary facilities, including conference rooms, a kitchen, a server room and other office spaces to be rented out.

At the ceremony, UGEL CEO Mr. Yawo Nutifafa Agbesi, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and UGEL Board for securing land at a central part of the University for the new office complex, which symbolised UGEL’s growth and long-term commitment. 

Mr. Agbesi also highlighted UGEL's expanding operations, which now include managing hostels, land, and facilities such as Diamond Hall and the UG Stadium.

UGEL Board Chair and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), Prof. Gordon Awandare, extended heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their dedication, despite working in temporary spaces. 

He emphasised that the new office complex would not only improve the work environment but also reflect UGEL’s growth and future aspirations.

CEO of Build It Green Africa (BIGA), contractors of the project, Mr. Ernest Amissah stressed BIGA’s commitment to sustainable building practices. He explained that the office complex would be powered by solar energy. 

“We are using modules to reduce the carbon footprint in construction, build rapidly and save cost,” he explained.

The ceremony concluded with the official sod-cutting to commence construction of the ultra-modern office complex.
