Leadership of SSAoUG Calls on University Management

The leadership of the Senior Staff Association of the University of Ghana (SSAoUG) has called on Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and members of the University’s senior management.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, Chairperson Ms. Gladys Alantiya explained that the visit was to formally introduce the new executive team and to express appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and management for their continuous support. She reaffirmed the commitment of the Association to promote the welfare and professional growth of senior staff, while making room for a culture of dialogue and partnership.

Prof. Amfo congratulated the executives on their election and commended them for their dedication to the collective advancement of staff interests. She disclosed that effective collaboration between management and the Association remains key to achieving institutional harmony and operational efficiency. The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that discussions at the meeting would lead to practical solutions beneficial to both staff and the University.

The meeting also addressed among other things, matters relating to staff welfare, productivity and concerns surrounding overtime payments. Dr. Yvonne Ayerki Lamptey, Director of the Human Resource and Organisational Development Directorate (HRODD) and Mr. Benjamin Owusu Addo, Director of Finance, took turns to provide updates on matters related to overtime payments, assuring the SSAoUG leadership of management’s ongoing engagements with the relevant state agencies to find a lasting resolution to the issue.

Also in attendance were Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development; Prof. Gordon Akanzuwine Awandare, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Registrar.
The SSAoUG leadership team present at the meeting included Mr. Philip K. Odei (Vice-Chair), Ms. Mary Zambila Yahaya (Women’s Commissioner), Mr. Wisdom Kwabla Dey (Financial Secretary), Ms. Monica Djabtey (Treasurer) and Mr. Akaama A. Muniru (Assistant Secretary).
