CEDSA and UG-CCReS Community Engagement Event Promotes Disability Inclusion and Climate Resilience

A collaborative initiative between the Centre for Disability Studies and Advocacy (CEDSA) and the University of Ghana Climate Change and Sustainability Research Centre (UG-CCReS) has culminated in a community engagement event aimed at reinforcing the University’s commitment to disability inclusion and climate resilience.

The event featured the distribution of advocacy tracts under the theme “See Something, Say Something About Disability,” designed to enhance awareness across campus and encourage proactive support for disability-related issues.

A major highlight was the launch of a dedicated hotline to enable community members to report both positive and negative experiences related to disability on campus, strengthening efforts toward accountability and inclusivity.

Speaking at the event, Immediate Past Acting Director of CEDSA, Dr. Peter Ndaa, highlighted the University’s leadership role in fostering diversity and urged students to embrace opportunities to become global advocates beyond academic life.

Current Director of CEDSA, Prof. Joanna Salifu-Yendork, shared a personal narrative underscoring the lifelong nature of disability advocacy and called on all stakeholders to join the effort to build a more inclusive community.

The engagement demonstrates the University’s strategic focus on promoting inclusive education while aligning with broader sustainability goals.
