Zenith Bank Ghana Ltd to Build ICT Centre on Campus

Management of Zenith Bank Ghana Ltd has disclosed plans to build an ICT Centre at the University as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.

In a recent meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Managing Director of the Bank, Mr. Henry Onwuzurigbo, emphasised the Bank’s commitment to building long-term relationships with students through the establishment of the ICT Centre. He mentioned that engaging with technologically literate university students would help create lasting connections.

Prof. Amfo expressed her excitement about the project, aligning it with the University’s vision. She stressed the need for collaboration between the University's IT Directorate and external partners to create a structure that benefits the entire university community.

She reaffirmed the University's commitment to working closely with Zenith Bank Ltd to bring the project to fruition.

Deputy Director for Infrastructure at the Information Technology Directorate (ITD), UG, Mr. Kweku Owusu Osei, proposed that the ICT centre project should be integrated into academic programmes, particularly in fields of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. He stressed the importance of creating a centre where students could use the lab for practical work, similar to the existing ITD facility, which is used for teaching and assignments.

Director of the Institutional Advancement Directorate, Prof. Kwasi Dartey-Baah, acknowledged the need for concrete actions to ensure the project aligns with both the University and the Bank’s goals, leading to tangible outcomes. He also recognised the importance of the ICT centre in connecting with the youth. 

In attendance at the meeting were officials from UG and Zenith Bank.
