UTAG-UG Executives Introduce First Elected Women’s Executive Officer to Management

UTAG-UG Executives of the University of Ghana led by the President, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has officially introduced the Association’s first ever elected Women’s Executive Officer to Senior Management of the University.

Dr. Sarah Marjie, UTAG-UG's newly elected Women’s Executive Officer, was sworn into office in January 2024. The Office has been created to address and prioritise women's issues at the local level, as well as promote gender parity.

Prof. Gyampo in his remarks mentioned that over the years there have been concerns that the UTAG association is male dominated. The association, therefore, decided to create an office to not only represent women but also advocate for their welfare. Prof. Gyampo further stated that after reviewing the Association’s constitution, the Women’s Executive Officer’s portfolio has been created at both the national and local levels. He indicated that the tradition of introducing newly elected executives to Management is aimed at deepening UTAG’s relationship with Management.
