UG’s IAST Hosts 8th Industry-Academia Interaction Series to Strengthen Innovation Partnerships

The Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) at the University of Ghana has hosted the 8th edition of its Industry-Academia Interaction Series, reaffirming the University's commitment to aligning academic research with the practical demands of industry.
Themed “Industry and Infrastructural Development: Exploring Industry Needs Using Cutting-Edge Expertise,” the event brought together experts from industry, academia and student communities to foster collaboration in pursuit of sustainable development and technological innovation.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Director-General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Dr. Samuel Christian Atuahene stressed that infrastructure development alone is not enough to drive national progress. He called for strategic partnerships between industry and academia, noting that such synergies are essential for harnessing knowledge, solving practical problems, and maximising socioeconomic potential.
The series continues to provide a dynamic platform for researchers and industry leaders to explore shared challenges, exchange expertise and develop pathways to innovation that respond to Ghana’s developmental priorities.
