UG Staff Trained on New Accreditation Management Information System

Several faculty and administrative staff of the University of Ghana have benefited from a capacity-building session on the newly introduced Accreditation Management Information System (AMIS), developed by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). The training is aimed at digitising and streamlining the accreditation and re-accreditation processes for academic programmes across the country.

Addressing participants on behalf of the Provost of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, Dean of the School of Engineering Sciences, Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, highlighted the growing challenge of managing accreditation as academic programmes expand. She commended GTEC’s leadership in developing the system and underlined the importance of integrating such innovations to improve efficiency across the University.

Facilitators from GTEC led participants through the AMIS platform. Mr. Benjamin Hackman, Head of MIS/IT at GTEC, introduced the platform, outlining its key features, benefits, and user roles. Mr. Hussein Alhassan, Senior Software Engineer at GTEC, also guided attendees through the accreditation and re-accreditation process, covering application submission, invoice generation, payment procedures, and responding to panel feedback.

As part of the session, participants engaged in a practical exercise, receiving hands-on training in initiating and submitting applications through the AMIS platform.

The initiative underscores the University’s commitment to strengthening its quality assurance processes, ensuring that all academic programmes continue to meet the highest national and international standards.
