UG Jubilee Choir Holds Dinner and Awards Night

The Annual Dinner and Awards night for members of the University of Ghana Jubilee Choir took place recently at the Great Hall.

The ceremony, which falls under the auspices of the Chaplaincy Board, in collaboration with the Public Affairs Directorate is an occasion held in honour of the outgoing executives of the Choir, and also to welcome the new executives as well as honour all members of the choir for the role they play in accompanying major events of the University. 

In his welcome address, Dr. Benjamin Amakye-Boateng, Director of the University of Ghana Jubilee Choir reiterated that the dinner was in recognition of the services and sacrifices of past executives of the choir and a send-off to its final year students.  He was full of praise for the entire membership of the Choir.

Mrs. Mavis Osafo Adu and Mrs. Joana Omaboe, Assistant Registrars at the Public Affairs Directorate, in separate messages expressed appreciation to the past executives for their dedicated service to the choir and wished them well in their future endeavours.   They charged the incoming executives to work hard to sustain the good work of their predecessors and make the choir attractive to other students, while aiming to become one of the most outstanding choirs in Ghana and internationally.

The incoming President, Ms. Jennifer Welbeck, who is the first female President of the Choir, in her acceptance remarks, promised to work together with her executives to raise the standards of the Choir and move it to higher pedestals.  Ms. Welbeck takes over from Mr. Derrick Asamoah.

Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, Director of Public Affairs and a cherished Patron of University of Ghana Jubilee Choir, Dr. Benjamin Amakye-Boateng, Director, University of Ghana Jubilee Choir and Mr. T. Andoh, Music Director and the immediate past Director of the University of Ghana Jubilee Choir, took turns to present certificates to the outgoing executives.

It was a memorable evening, kept lively song ministrations from the choir, and interspersed with soloists from the choir, with excellent renditions, both contemporary and traditional.
