UG and University of Liberia to Strengthen Academic Collaborations
UG and the University of Liberia have initiated conversations to deepen academic collaborations, following a courtesy visit by a high-level delegation from Liberia led by its President, Dr. Layli Maparyan.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo received the delegation, with discussions focusing on student exchange programmes, joint PhD supervision, faculty collaboration, and opportunities to participate in the Legon Leadership Academy. Both institutions also explored broader avenues for cooperation in research, teaching, leadership development, and community engagement.
In welcoming the delegation, Prof. Amfo stated the importance of strategic international partnerships in advancing institutional excellence. She noted that collaboration with sister institutions across Africa remains a key pillar of UG’s vision to expand global influence while contributing to development through higher education.
President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Layli Maparyan, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the shared values and aspirations of both institutions. She emphasised the potential of the partnership to create transformative opportunities for staff and students while strengthening academic capacity and leadership across the region.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to formalising and strengthening cooperation through mutually beneficial programmes that support innovation, academic mobility and knowledge exchange.
