Transforming Lives Through Excellence: UG College of Health Sciences Launches 25th Anniversary

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is celebrating its silver jubilee on the theme, “UG College of Health Sciences @25: Transforming Lives through Excellence in Education, Research and Healthcare.”
At a colourful ceremony to launch this milestone, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, articulated the various successes the College has achieved, through robust health training and research excellence. She called on the College to continue to lead the charge by investing in innovative training, cutting-edge research and partnerships driven by innovative technology and human-centred approaches. The Vice-Chancellor, pledged her continued support to the growth and development of the College in accordance with the Strategic Plan.

The Chair of the Advisory Board of CHS and MD of Ecobank Ghana, Mrs. Abena Osei-Poku, expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the College. She urged the College to use the celebration as an opportunity for reflection on the success accomplished and to develop a road map to guide future aspirations.

On his part, the Provost of CHS, Prof. Alfred Edwin Yawson, paid tribute to the founding management team of the College. He expressed pride about the various transformations the College has undergone, particularly with the expansion of academic programmes and infrastructure as well as contributions to national and global research in the Health Sciences.
Prof. Michael Ofori, Chair of the Anniversary Planning Committee, provided an update on the various activities outlined to mark the anniversary. The activities which span May to November, 2025 will include public lectures, stakeholder engagements, health screening activities, blood donation exercises and an awards ceremony.

As part of the launch, the anniversary logo and anniversary cloth were unveiled.
