On his part the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Seidu Dramani, called on staff to remain diligent in their duties, noting that strong performance strengthens the Union’s engagement with University Management on improved conditions of service. He also encouraged a culture of peer support among workers.

Delivering a keynote address, Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo, Chairperson of the University’s Equal Opportunities Board, outlined the mandate of the 13-member body tasked with addressing discrimination and promoting gender equity. She reiterated the University’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying, sexual harassment and discriminatory practices, including the mistreatment of pregnant women.

On welfare matters, Trustee, Mr. Daniel Dorgblonu announced plans to roll out the next phase of the motorbike loan scheme, citing reduced interest rates and flexible repayment through salary deductions. He also highlighted the benefits of Saham Life Insurance, which provides financial support in cases of occupational injuries or death, and urged members to inform their families about the policy.

The event concluded with a parade and a brief presentation ceremony, during which insurance claims were disbursed. Beneficiaries included an injured staff member and the family of a late staff member.

TEWU-UG reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for improved working conditions, stressing that staff welfare remains central to the University’s growth and sustainability.
