Prof. Debrah explained that “this is a framework that supports the exchanges of staff and students between the two institutions. It allows for LECIAD to send students, lecturers and staff to the University of Malta to study for a short period and also to allow the Maltese counterparts to come to University of Ghana through LECIAD to also engage in studies.”

He added that “this initiative was promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the University, and we are happy to sign this MoU today. This is going to create more opportunities for Ghana and Malta.”

The Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), formerly the Legon Centre for International Affairs, was purposely established in 1989 by the University as an institute for the study of International Relations and Diplomacy at the request of Ghana’s Foreign Ministry. LECIAD has since earned the reputation as a dynamic and prestigious Centre of Excellence in teaching, learning, and research in International Affairs and Diplomacy. The Centre adopts an innovative approach to teaching and research to empower students to understand the past and the challenges of our present world.
