Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences Commissions Isoprime PrecisION Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer

The UG Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences has commissioned an Isoprime PrecisION Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometre. It is expected to play a pivotal role in Ocean Science Research and Civil licensing applications.

This state-of-the-art instrument, a result of collaborative efforts between the University of Ghana, African Academy of Sciences, European Union and African Union, signifies a significant leap in enhancing scientific infrastructure at the University.

On his part, Dr. Benjamin Osei Botwe, Head of the Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences in expressing gratitude to collaborators highlighted the University's dedication to world-class research.

Dr. Peggy Oti Boateng, Executive Director of African Academy of Sciences (AAS) emphasised the relevance of data sharing, capacity building and mentorship in education.

In concluding remarks at the brief ceremony, Prof. Chris Gordon, former Director of the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS), thanked the collaborators and urged the students to leverage the new equipment's potential.
