De-United Foods Limited Donates Dustbins To UG To Mark National Sanitation Awareness Day

De-United Foods Limited, producers of Indomie Instant Noodles has donated 40 dustbins to the University of Ghana to mark National Sanitation Awareness day.

Brands Manager of De-United Foods, Mr. Shine Akiem Torsoo, stated that the donation was to support government’s initiative on National Sanitation Awareness Day which was started in November last year. He added that the donation to the University was the largest so far as compared to donations made to other institutions.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. James Adomako who received the donation on behalf of the University was grateful to the company for their kind gesture, and said that the dustbins would be distributed to the student residences.  He was hopeful that the Halls would put them to good use. 

 

Earlier, in brief remarks, the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa thanked the company for the donation. She said even though the University had a large estate members of the community are encouraged to do their part to keep a sanitized environment.  She said that the University has also established an Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies which meant that issues of the environment and sanitation are key areas of research in the University.  Reiterating the sentiments expressed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Mrs. Amoa was hopeful that the Halls would play their part in maintaining good sanitation practices.  She called on De- United Foods to consider donating more dustbins, including street dustbins and liners as well. 

Also present at the ceremony was the Area Marketing Manager of Indomie, Mr. Jaafar Pelpuo, Head of the Environmental Health Services Unit, Mr. E.N.A. Bonaparte, Vice-President of the SRC, Mr. Joshua Andrews-Egyir, other SRC Executives, as well as representatives from the various halls of residence.
