Careers and Counselling Centre and Quartmani EduCare Partner To Train 200 Educators in Counselling

The Careers and Counselling Centre of the University of Ghana, in collaboration with Quartmani EduCare Partners, has trained about 200 child educators within the Greater Accra Region in Counselling.

The maiden collaborative event which took place on 21st November 2023, at the Confucius Institute on the University of Ghana campus, was targeted at building the capacity of Private Educators in providing basic counselling services to their students.

In her opening address, the Director of the UG Careers and Counselling Centre, Rev. Dr. Bridget Ben-Naimah, emphasised the important role of Counselling in ensuring a safe and conducive environment for learners in basic schools.

On his part, Mr. Adjei Kwarteng-Amaning, Director of Quartmani EduCare Partners, in his address assured participants of his organisation's commitment in building partnerships with expert organisations to bring innovation, empowerment and improved delivery in the education sector.

The training focused on five key topics, including, “Understanding the Psychosocial Challenges of Basic School Pupils”, “Basic Counselling Skills and Techniques”, “Boundaries/Ethics in Counselling,” “Career Guidance for Children and Adolescents” and “Maintaining your Psychosocial Wellbeing as Teachers/Educators.”

Participants at the training programme included Pastors, School Directors, School Heads, Administrative staff, Teachers and UG Students. They expressed gratitude to the organisers and were hopeful that more training programmes would be organised in the future.
