Award of Grant

An award of 1.49 Million Euros has been granted by the European Commission within the framework of the Horizon 2020 Call: H2020-MSCA-RISE-2017 Programme under the project “Globalised governance norms and local management and business practices in Africa and on the Arab peninsula (MANAGLOBAL)” to a consortium of Universities and institutions for a period of four years.

Professor Justice Bawole, Dr. Albert Ahenkan and Dr. Lily Yarney, of the Department of Public Administration and Health Services Management, University of Ghana Business School, are the local partners of MANAGLOBAL in the University of Ghana.

The grant agreement coordinator is the University Rennes 2 in France. The other beneficiary universities and institutions are the University of Bielefeld (Germany), the University of Manchester (UK), the University of Abertay Dundee (UK) and AgroParisTech (France). The University of Douala (Cameroon), Cheikh Anta Diop University (Senegal), ISCAE (Morocco), Maghreb Steel (Morocco), Phone Assistance (Morocco), the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI-Ghana), Groupement inter-patronal du Cameroun (GICAM) (Cameroon).

The project will explore the types of local management approaches that are practiced in selected African and Arab countries. It will explain how companies and subsidiaries can become profitable and grow in emerging countries by highlighting the particular mixture of globalized norms and standards of management and the ordinary ways of locally doing business.
