The criteria for winning each award category

To qualify for consideration for the awards, nominees must meet the following criteria: 

-Academic Excellence: Level 300 students must obtain a minimum of 4 As with a minimum number of 3 B+. 

For level 400 students, the requirement is to have at least 6 As, with a minimum number of 4 B+.  The total number of Linguistics courses taken will also be considered to ensure the criteria are reasonable for both major and non-major students.

 

-  Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and motivate peers

- Excellent Interpersonal Skill: Active involvement in student life, demonstrating a commitment to fostering community spirit among fellow students. 

-  Service: Commitment to serve by engaging in initiatives that benefit the University community and contribute positively to society at large.

 

Supporting Documents

The following documents must be submitted by nominees as part of their application:

  1. Statement of Purpose (an essay outlining the candidate's qualifications and reasons for self-nomination for the award.)
  2. Transcript
  3. Curriculum vitae (a current CV outlining academic experiences, extracurricular activities, and relevant skills)
  4. Cover Letter (a letter expressing interest in the award and summarizing suitability for the nomination.) 
  5. Any other supporting document that the applicant deems necessary and relevant to their nomination.

The form or value of each award category

Each award will include:

  1. A certificate of achievement 
  2. Cash prize (in addition to the above).
