Welcome to the Institutional Research and Planning Office (IRPO) of the University of Ghana, Legon.
The Institutional Research and Planning Office came into existence, when the Planning Unit was decoupled from the Management Information Services of the erstwhile Planning and Management Information Services Directorate. This formed part of the implementation processes of the recommendations of the 2007 Visitation Panel.
The Office started full operations in 2013 with the main mandate to focus on data analysis and generation of information to aid strategic planning of the University.
The Office provides information which informs the University decision-making and planning processes in the areas of admissions, enrolment management, staffing, course accreditation, revenue estimation and projection as well as alumni relations.
The Office responds to internal data requests from any level of management and compiles data on the applications, admissions, enrolments and graduations annually.
In the matter of the University’s relations with external bodies, the Office responds to inquiries for information on the University to external bodies such as the Ministry of Education, National Council on Tertiary Education (NCTE), the National Accreditation Board (NAB) among others. On the International front, The Office provides data for external ranking purposes.
The formulation, monitoring and the evaluation of the Strategic Plan of the University also form part of the functions of the Office. This is done mostly through the seminars and workshops conducted by the Office. The Office also provides technical support in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of the individual Strategic Plans of the various Units of the University.
The Office conducts annual Entry and Exit surveys on students to ascertain their level of satisfaction with the application, admission and enrolment procedure of the University. Their views are also solicited on general life on campus both academic and social.
