City Campus Hosts Queen Elizabeth Scholars for Interdisciplinary Learning and Research Exchange

The Accra City Campus of the University of Ghana has hosted a delegation of Queen Elizabeth Scholars from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in an event aimed at promoting scholarly exchange and enhancing research opportunities.
Held under the theme “Enhancing Collaboration for Interdisciplinary Research,” the engagement brought together students and faculty to explore the socioeconomic dimensions of environmental challenges.
Prof. Clement Appah, the Principal of the Accra City Campus, described the partnership as an opportunity to spark innovation and develop impactful solutions. “Collaborations like these create spaces for transformative ideas and practical interventions,” he remarked.
Alexa Bennett, a visiting course instructor from the University of Waterloo, highlighted that the programme seeks to promote global citizenship through immersive learning experiences, broadening students’ knowledge and perspectives.
As part of the workshop, participants toured Livingfire Charcoal Briquettes, a clean energy enterprise producing smokeless cooking fuel from agricultural waste. Founder, Benedictus Atsu Agbontor, shared insights on how his innovation addresses environmental and health concerns while supporting local farmers economically.
The engagement underscored the University’s commitment to creating global partnerships that foster knowledge-sharing and sustainable solutions.
