Access Bank Ghana Plc Donates Laptops to UG, Commits to Long-Term Student Support

Access Bank Ghana Plc, through its digital platform AccessMore, has donated 20 brand new laptops to the University of Ghana in support of the Vice-Chancellor’s One Student One Laptop initiative. The donation strengthens the commitment of the Bank to empowering students and enhancing digital access in higher education.

The brief presentation ceremony also provided an opportunity for both institutions to discuss the framework of an upcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), expected to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Further demonstrating its support for student development, the Bank, through its Access Women Network, announced a special initiative to reward academic excellence among female students. Under this initiative, the top three female students at the University will, each year for the next five years, receive internships with Fortune 500 companies along with cash awards.

Receiving the donation, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, commended Access Bank Ghana Plc for its strong and sustained partnership. She noted the Bank’s continuous support for initiatives such as the One Student One Laptop project, career fairs, internships and the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards.

“This collaboration is a key step in training excellent human capital for the nation and the continent at large,” she said.

The Access Bank delegation was led by the Executive Director for Wholesale Banking, Mr. James Bruce, who reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to advancing education and youth empowerment in Ghana.

The gesture underscores the University’s strategic priority of enhancing the student experience through impactful partnerships and sustainable resource mobilisation.
