About

Professor Jonathan Fletcher is a specialist mathematics educator, teacher professional development expert and an assessment consultant. He holds BSc (Hons) in Financial Mathematics (Valuations) from the University of Reading, MSc (Numeracy) from the London South Bank University, MA (Education) and PhD (Mathematics Education) from the University of London as well as Certificate in Coaching (Mathematics) from the Oxford Brooke’s University, all in the United Kingdom. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance (CILG), Chair of the National Executive Council of the Ghana Chapter of CILG and a member of the Technical Committee of the Ghana Teacher Task Force.

Professor Jonathan Fletcher is the current President of the Ghana Education Research Association and a Council Member of the World Education Research Association. He is also the Education Director on the Board of Directors at the Ghana International School. In addition to working with graduate students on their master’s and PhD programmes, he serves as a consultant for the Ministry of Education and a key advisor on teaching and learning partnerships at the Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL), where he supports Universities and Colleges of Education in teacher professional development programmes.

Professor Jonathan Fletcher has published extensively, and his publications include books on mathematics as well as papers on the teaching and learning of mathematics, assessment in education, teacher professional development and teacher performance appraisal. He is currently working with colleagues in the Department of Educational Studies and Leadership on a research project exploring strategies to improve teacher access to professional development.
