Prof. William Baah‑Boateng: From Economics Lecturer to Vice‑Chancellor of Methodist University Ghana
Academic Journey at the University of Ghana
Professor William Baah‑Boateng began his academic career in the Department of Economics, University of Ghana, where he obtained his BA, MPhil, and PhD in Economics, with additional doctoral coursework at Harvard University.
He became the first academic in 50 years to be promoted to Full Professor of Economics and served two terms as Head of Department.
Influence Beyond Academia
He served in national and international roles including Senior Research Fellow at ACET, Advisor to the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Editor of the Ghanaian Journal of Economics, and Consultant to major global agencies.
Appointment as Vice‑Chancellor of Methodist University Ghana on August 1, 2025, he was appointed Vice‑Chancellor of Methodist University Ghana for a four‑year term.
