Abass Ibn Abdul-Fatawu
The Department of Economics is pleased to congratulate Alice Nubuor and Abass Ibn Abdul-Fatawu, PhD candidates in the Department, on their acceptance into the prestigious Max Planck ARTEMIS Programme.
ARTEMIS — African Research Talents Experiencing Mentoring In Science — is a mentorship programme of the Max Planck Society designed to support promising graduates, doctoral candidates, and early-career researchers from African universities and research institutions. The programme provides selected fellows with opportunities for international mentorship, scientific exchange, networking, and professional development.
Through the programme, Alice and Abass will benefit from sustained mentorship with researchers at Max Planck Institutes, with a focus on advancing their scientific careers, strengthening their research capacity, and broadening their international academic networks. The programme also includes a four-week research stay at the Max Planck Institute of each fellow’s mentor, where participants deepen their scientific knowledge, engage in collaborative work, and present their research alongside other ARTEMIS fellows.
Their selection is a significant achievement and reflects the quality, promise, and growing international visibility of graduate students in the Department of Economics. It also aligns with the Department’s commitment to supporting graduate training, research excellence, and global academic engagement.
We warmly congratulate Alice and Abass on this important accomplishment and wish them every success as they participate in the ARTEMIS programme.
