加纳大学孔院应邀出席“非洲中文教育发展与中文专业建设论坛”

The Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana was invited to attend the "African Chinese Education Development and Chinese Professional Construction Forum".
Prof. Chu Beijuan delivered a keynote speech on "The Role of Confucius Institutes in the Development of Chinese in Universities in West Africa".
Prof. Chu conducted investigations and comparisons on the development of the Chinese language majors of six Confucius Institutes in four countries in West Africa, including Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia. She believes that Confucius Institutes have played a vital role in the development of Chinese majors in overseas universities. It is mainly reflected in the promotion of the original headquarters and embassy, ​​the active support of domestic partner institutions and the practice of the Confucius Institute.Prof. Chu also pointed out some existing problems, which are mainly manifested in the weak practical expression and application ability of the students cultivated, and the long growth cycle of local teachers. Finally, she believes that Confucius Institutes should continue to use their resource advantages to strengthen domestic The quality of professional teachers from cooperative colleges and universities will be established jointly with cooperative colleges and universities to establish training bases and a mechanism for oriented training of local teachers.
Twelve representatives from Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Kenya and other African countries shared the history and current situation of Chinese education construction in Africa based on the actual conditions of Chinese education in their respective countries or Confucius Institutes, expressed their thoughts on the development of Chinese education, and put forward positive responses. Despite the time difference and different opinions, the atmosphere was harmonious and the discussion was lively. The forum lasted for more than three hours. Participants at the meeting said that this was a feast for cloud gatherings, which was very rewarding.
