Newmont Ghana, a mining company in Ghana has donated ten laptops to the Department of Communication at the University of Ghana.

In a short presentation ceremony, the Director of Communications at Newmont Ghana, Mr. David Johnson said that considering the role that the Department plays, it was proper to support the training of its students with some Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment.

University of Ghana Department of Communication Studies Launches Trends in Media and Communication Conference

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Ghana in partnership with DW Akademie and Penplusbytes virtually launched the maiden edition of its Trends in Media and Communication Conference on Tuesday October 19, 2021. 

The two-day conference under the theme, “Africa’s Digital Youth: Exploring Media and Information Literacy Competencies and practices”, brought together more than 120 participants from across the African continent and beyond to map out a plan of action for Africa’s tech-savvy youths. 

Department of Communication Studies hosts a Stakeholders’ Forum on Media and Migration

Despite the risks involved in irregular migration, reports show that many young people in Africa continue to welcome the idea of leaving their home countries without proper documentation, to find greener pastures elsewhere. To address this challenge and empower young people with reliable information with which to make informed migration decisions, the Department of Communication Studies organised a forum on media and migration. The forum also aimed to empower the media with information to enable better coverage of migration issues, especially concerning the youth. Watch video below.
