Overview

This 24-month M.Phil. Biochemistry programme is designed to provide graduate students with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and research competencies in biochemistry to address national and emerging scientific needs. It also supports the professional development of bioscience professionals and prepares graduates for doctoral studies and research careers in the life sciences. The programme seeks to train competent biochemists, cell biologists, and molecular biologists for careers in research institutions, industry, clinical and quality assurance laboratories, academia, and government agencies. It aims to develop students’ capacity to undertake independent research addressing relevant problems in biochemistry and related disciplines and to contribute to scientific advancement and national development. The programme also promotes the application of biochemical knowledge through community engagement and extension services in health, agriculture, industry, and the environment. Furthermore, it seeks to develop highly trained biochemical scientists equipped for careers in academia, research, industry, and advanced doctoral training.
