Overview
ARPPIS welcomes application from individuals who want to pursue a two-year MPhil degree in Entomology or a four-year PhD degree in Entomology by full time.
Aims and Objectives
Our Graduate Entomology Programme (MPhil and PhD) aims to provide critical theoretical, practical and analytical skills to students who are interested in insect science research. We also seek to provide training that is applicable in many other fields such as biochemistry, molecular biology, chemical ecology, human and animal health, agriculture, biodiversity, livestock, environmental science, taxonomy, physiology, systematics, morphology, among others, which are related to insect science.
ARPPIS, University of Ghana is envisioned to be a strong centre of excellence and a focal point in Insect Science training in the West African Sub-Region and in Africa as a whole.
ARPPIS is designated for the training of indigenous scientists (entomologists) exposed to the ecological, sociological, and economic environment of Africa to tackle and address critical insect related concerns in the continent.
To make ARPPIS, University of Ghana, more visible within the Sub-Region and to be more proactive in addressing both National and Sub-Regional insect-related issues.
To coordinate and promote stakeholder participation in the training of entomologists in Africa
To position the University of Ghana as the University of choice in Africa offering specialized programmes in Insect Science, with a network of Insect Scientists worldwide.

Tuition
Tuition is administered by classroom and online lectures, seminars, laboratory and field practical’s, field trips, project work, thesis or research work, and exchange programmes among sister institutions, such as ICIPE in Nairobi Kenya, University of Oslo, Norway, University of Hamburg, Germany, University of Cambridge, UK, Oxford University, UK and Keele University, UK.
Entry Requirement
MPhil
A good bachelor’s degree (at least second-class lower division) in agricultural or biological science or related fields. Candidates must have taken a basic course in entomology in their undergraduate studies.
PhD
An MPhil degree in Entomology or related fields and candidates must have taken a basic course in Entomology in their previous postgraduate studies.
