Profile of Prof Ken Okwae Fening

Prof. Ken Okwae Fening has a BSc. Hons. (Zoology) and M.Phil. (Entomology) from the University of Ghana, and a PhD in Agricultural Entomology from Kenyatta University (2008), Kenya. Prof. Fening is a Research Fellow (currently an Associate Professor of Agricultural Entomology) at the Soil and Irrigation Research Centre, and the Coordinator of the African Regional Postgraduate Programme in Insect Science (ARPPIS), University of Ghana. He was formerly a Research Scientist (Entomologist) at the CSIR- Crops Research Institute, Ghana, and CAPREx Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Cambridge. Prof. Fening has 15 years of research and teaching experience. His research focuses on the bioecology of insect pests and their sustainable management. His expertise also extends to Commercial and Beneficial Insects, Sanitary and Phytosanitary issues, specifically quarantine pests in exported fruits and vegetables, invasive species and organic agriculture. He has offered practical solutions to farmers, regulatory authorities, and is involved in the training of students. Prof. Fening teaches entomology courses and supervise students at the undergraduate and graduate level (MPhil and PhD) at Crops Science and ARPPIS, respectively. He is also involved in many collaborative projects, and has participated in several local, regional, and international conferences with many publications to his credit.
