SOIL 605: Soil Physics

This course is intended to introduce students to the composition of soils, interaction of soil and water, soil water potentials, potential diagrams and soil water retention. Also to be introduced will be the principles of water movement in soil, Darcy’s law, distribution of water in soils and infiltration.  The course will focus on soil structure, physical, chemical and biological agents in soil aggregation, soil consistency and strength and the effect of soil physical properties on root growth.
