PROFILE
Alex K. D. Frempong holds B. A. (Hons), Political Science with Geography, UG (1982) and M. Phil, Political Science (1999), both from the University of Ghana, Legon. Appointed a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science in 2000 in his alma mater, he was promoted Senior Lecturer in 2006. Over the years he has taught undergraduate courses at all levels as well as at the graduate level in his areas of specialization: Conflict Studies, Democracy & Elections and Human Rights. He has also served as part-time/adjunct lecturer in several public and private universities in Ghana and in addition as guest lecturer at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC).
Earlier, as a professional teacher from 1976, he taught over two decades in several first and second cycles institutions in Ghana and Sierra Leone.
To his credit are several published journal articles and book chapters in addition to his seminal books on Elections in Ghana.
He has researched for such international bodies as the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), the Consortium for Development Partnerships (CDP), Open Society Initiatives in West Africa (OSIWA), the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Danish Institute for Political Parties (DIPP) and on the local plane, for the African Security Dialogue & Research (ASDR), the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) and the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG). As a member of the African Union Elections Observer Mission (AUEOM), he has observed Elections in Kenya and Zimbabwe.
He has also attended and presented international conferences across Africa and in the USA, Colombia, Costa Rica, Finland, the Netherlands and India.
