About the Department

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Ghana is committed to advancing knowledge, innovation, and professional practice in nutrition and food science. Through teaching, research, community engagement, and industry collaboration, the Department contributes to improving human health, food quality and safety, and sustainable food systems.

Our faculty bring diverse expertise across nutrition, food science, food processing and technology, food chemistry, food microbiology and safety, quality assurance, food product development, sensory science, and related fields. The Department provides a dynamic environment for academic excellence, research, practical training, and professional development, preparing graduates to address emerging challenges in Ghana and beyond.
