UG and Fan Milk Plc Sign 5-Year MoU to Promote Research, Training and Knowledge Sharing

The University of Ghana (UG), through the Dairy Research Improvement and Innovation Consortium (DRIInC), has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fan Milk Plc, an affiliate of Danone, to collaborate on research, training and knowledge sharing.
The MoU was signed on June 12, 2025, at the Fan Milk headquarters in Accra, by Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Development (RID) and Mr. Lionel Parent, Managing Director of Fan Milk Plc.
This partnership aims to provide students with industrial exposure and experience through internships, exchange programmes and creative workshops and competitions. It will also promote collaborative research, training, technology transfer and knowledge-sharing between UG and Fan Milk.
In his remarks, Mr. Parent expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, particularly as Fan Milk is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. He highlighted the company’s commitment to providing students with practical experiences through internships and national service placements, with potential employment opportunities for outstanding students.
Prof. Asante, in his remarks, noted that the partnership directly aligns with three of the University of Ghana’s five strategic priorities: Transformative Student Experience, Impactful Research and Engagement and Partnerships.
After the signing, the UG delegation received a guided tour of the Fan Milk factory to gain firsthand insight into the company’s production processes and its focus on quality and innovation.
Looking ahead, the MoU between UG and Fan Milk Plc marks a significant step in advancing research, innovation, skills development and career opportunities for students. The partnership is expected to deliver impactful outcomes for both UG and Fan Milk.

The signing was witnessed by representatives from the University of Ghana, including Dr. Maame Yaakwaah Adjei – Principal Investigator, DRIInC; Prof. Eric Timpong Jones – Co-PI, DRIInC; Dr. Naalamle Amissah – Co-PI, DRIInC; Mr. Andrews Tetteywayo – Research and Innovation Directorate; staff from the DRIInC project and students from the Department of Nutrition and Food Science.
Also present from Fan Milk Plc were Madam Ahuoefe Fantodji, Research and Innovation Manager and leader of the collaboration; Sandra Adu-Gyamfi Esq, General Counsel and Company Secretary; Mr. Kenneth Aidam, Communications Manager and Mr. Francis Amagloh, UG Alumni and Head of Project in R&I.
