Access Bank Ghana Plc Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on UG Leadership to Deepen Strategic Partnership

A delegation from Access Bank Ghana Plc has paid a courtesy call on the Management of the University of Ghana (UG) to reaffirm and strengthen the longstanding partnership between the Bank and the University.

The delegation, made up of members of the Bank’s Education and SME (Business Banking) teams and was led by the Group Head of SME Banking Mr. Jones Darmoe. He noted that the University branch had exceeded expectations, becoming profitable within a shorter period than projected, a development he attributed to the strong relationship and supportive environment on campus.

Mr. Darmoe indicated that education remains one of Access Bank’s key focus areas, alongside health and religion, which the Bank considers critical pillars of the economy. He emphasised the Bank’s commitment to supporting institutions that contribute to national development, stating that investment in education is an investment in the future.

There were also discussions on roll-out of the award scheme for the top three graduating students each academic year, as contained in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Bank and the University.

The delegation further proposed strengthening collaboration in research, suggesting that the University could support the Bank with research consultancy services in areas of shared interest, thereby advancing a mutually beneficial relationship grounded in academic expertise and industry practice.
