The Vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana met with the lecturers of the Confucius Institute and presented an award to Director Chu Beijuan.

On the afternoon of October 18, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, cordially met with the Chinese and Ghanaian directors and lecturers of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana in the Vice-Chancellor’s office, and expressed her gratitude to the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana. Director Chu Beijuan was presented with the "Outstanding Contribution Award to International Chinese Education" in recognition of her contribution to Chinese language education in Ghana. Ms. Pascaline, Director of the Public Affairs Office of the University of Ghana, was present at the meeting.

Vice-Chancellor Amfo, fully affirmed the efforts made by the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana in promoting international Chinese education and spoke highly of the work of Professor Chu Beijuan, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana. She said that from 2019 to 2022, when Professor Chu Beijuan served as the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, she was committed to the development of Chinese language education in Ghana. Not only did she find opportunities for university students to study abroad in China, and recommended graduate students for employment and internship in Chinese enterprises in Ghana but also actively expanded the “Chinese + Vocational Skills" education. The International Conference on  Chinese Language Education recently held by the Confucius Institute is the first academic conference since the cooperation between the two universities, which has deepened the cultural and academic exchanges between the two partner universities in China and Ghana and even between China and Africa. The  vitality of the Confucius Institute during the most difficult period of the pandemic cannot be  seperated from the efforts of Director Chu Beijuan. Director Pascaline read out the award speech and  Vice-chancellor Amfo presented Director Chu with the certificate of "Outstanding Contribution to International Chinese Education" in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Chinese education and Chinese culture dissemination in Ghana.

Director Chu Beijuan thanked the University of Ghana for its support and concern for the work of the Confucius Institute. She fondly recalled the work of the Confucius Institute and the unforgettable experience of working with colleagues at the University of Ghana. The friendly and kind Ghanaian people and the diligent Ghanaian students left a deep impression on her. Director Chu said that one after another graduates have found satisfactory jobs , and more and more locals have realized the importance of learning Chinese, which is the greatest satisfaction for Chinese educators. The "Outstanding Contribution Award" issued by the University of Ghana is not only a recognition of personal work, but also a commendation for  the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana. "Iron-struck camps and flowing soldiers", teachers come and leave year after year, and students advance to further studies one after another. The Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana is committed to the purpose of international Chinese education, and its original intention of serving Ghana students will never change.
