International Conference Series 1 | China - Ghana International Conference on Chinese Language Education held successfully
In order to further promote the development of Chinese language education and the construction of Chinese language majors in Ghana (Africa), and to celebrate the 2022 Confucius Institute Day, under the guidance of Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, International Chinese Language Education Foundation of China, and with the joint support of Zhejiang University of Technology and the University of Ghana, on September 22, 2016, Jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana and the School of Humanities of Zhejiang University of Technology, the "China-Ghana International Conference on Chinese Education" was successfully held. The seminar held both online and offline. Prof. Yu Xiaofen, Vice President of Zhejiang University of Technology, Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante, Pro-Vice Chancellor of University of Ghana, and Mr. Tang Hong, President of Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry were present.

Professor Yu Xiaofen delivered the opening remarks at the conference. She pointed out that the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana is the first Confucius Institute in Ghana and the most influential Confucius Institute in the country. In recent years, Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana has been committed to providing "Chinese +" technical training to local employees in Ghana, which has further promoted economic and cultural exchanges between China and Ghana, especially during the pandemic. In view of the achievements of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, in December 2021, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education signed a contract with the ZJUT to establish the Ghana Chinese Education Research Center. The Center will be committed to improving the level of Chinese education in Ghana and promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Ghana. President Yu fully affirmed the achievements of CIUG, which greatly encouraged the enthusiasm of teachers and students of Confucius Institute.

Prof.Asante said in his speech, Chinese major is one of the most popular one at the university of Ghana, the Confucius institute give strong support in such aspects as teaching resources, he thinks that the conference is an important milestone, in Ghana on the arrival of the 10th anniversary of CI,China-Ghana international Conference on Chinese language education "is a timely.

Mr. Tang Hong delivered an excellent speech on behalf of the overseas Chinese community and the business community. He pointed out that with the rapid development of economic exchanges between China and Canada, there are more and more Chinese enterprises in Ghana, which increases the demand for local talents who know Chinese. The "Chinese +" program carried out by the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana not only effectively expands the employment space of students, but also meets the talent needs of Chinese enterprises.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Hong Tao, Director of International Department of Zhejiang University of Technology. About 200 people from all walks of life attended the conference, including international Chinese education experts from domestic universities, Chinese and foreign deans of Confucius Institutes in Africa, Chinese and foreign deans and all teachers of CIUG,deans of Humanities College of Zhejiang University of Technology, some teachers and graduate students.
