“Confucius Institute Day “series of activities 5 | Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana held overseas volunteer test
On September 24, four outstanding students recommended by the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana successfully participated in the overseas volunteer teacher selection examination organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation.
In order to select qualified overseas volunteer teachers, Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana spent more than three months in the process of voluntary registration, preliminary screening, internship examination, and intensive training before the examination. Finally, four outstanding candidates were qualified to take part in the examination.
Although the test is online, candidates still want to come to the Confucius Institute to take the test. Firstly, Confucius Institute is the main place for them to learn Chinese; Second, Confucius Institute can provide a relatively smooth network environment. The exam was scheduled at 6:30 a.m. Ghana time. In order to provide a good environment for the examinees and cheer them up, Teacher Zhao did not hesitate to give up his weekend break. At 5:30 a.m., he went to the Confucius Institute to arrange the examination room, test the network and adjust the equipment... After the exam, the students were confident to share their experience with the teacher.

Wang Chenggong, the examinee, expressed his gratitude to Confucius Institute for its continuous help. The teachers are not only teachers but also good partners of us. We feel at ease in the examination of Confucius Institute. 'Chinese teachers are like our family members,' Ai Jiaying said. 'They patiently help us solve our difficulties.' "I left home at 4 o 'clock to take the exam," Ainan said. Chinese teachers are our trustworthy partners. Therefore, I chose to take the exam at Confucius Institute, hoping that my performance will not disappoint the help and effort of teachers." Mr.Zhao smiled and said, " Chinese teachers are good friends around you."

The Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana is facing a shortage of teachers during the pandemic. The purpose of this test is to select outstanding local volunteer teachers, to promote the Chinese language education in Ghana, and deepen students' sense of belonging to the Confucius Institute.
